Everybody Knows One Thing That You Don’t

Have you ever been made fun of or mocked because you didn’t know something that seemed super obvious to someone else?

Ever been asked if you were “born yesterday” because you just realized something?

Something we could all work on is having the humility to be humble. Nobody knows everything.

And yet, some of us act as though knowing a simple fact gives us bragging rights and justification to step on those who didn’t know said fact.

Spoiler alert: It doesn’t.

Now, now, as I always do, I deploy empathy and always understand or try to understand where someone else is coming from. I play devil’s advocate, and try to find out why I might be wrong or why someone else behaves the way they do.

  • Sometimes, something might seem like wildly common and obvious knowledge, like knowing the Sun is a star, and yet someone wasn’t aware of it.
  • Sometimes, somebody doesn’t seem to know a lot of things…
