Nice to learn this fun fact about you, Wesley. I can see the merit of driving in silence, although I'd probably only occasionally do it.
This article spoke out to me in a different way. I highlighted this sentence because I feel like silence is now seen as some kind of uncomfortable thing that we have to avoid at all costs. You rarely hear of "silence" these days without the word "awkward" before it. Not every silence is awkward, and pauses and gaps in conversation are normal. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine when people are utterly incapable of sitting in silence with someone else for a few seconds.
Sometimes, I sit in silence when someone finishes what they're saying so that I can formulate a proper response or answer to their question. I'm very close to completely eliminating my "uhh's" and "umm's," only uttering them once in a blue moon. We don't need to fill every gap of silence with some kind of noise.
