If We Only Look After Ourselves, We’ve All Lost
Think about the bigger picture.
I’ve never been the kind of person who likes leaving things to chance.
One of the things that I have trouble leaving to chance is the capacity for people to change and become better versions of themselves.
It’s not that I’m a control freak. It’s just that I know the journey of self-change can be grueling and difficult, and it’s a path that I think a lot of people either miss or neglect, to their own detriment.
Externally, I also find that a lot of people, on the other hand, are rather lax about the problems of the world and, if I’m being completely honest, a little selfish when it comes to issues that don’t affect them directly.
Many people don’t seem to care about a problem if it doesn’t directly hurt them.
- If it’s not their money being stolen, they don’t care about theft.
- If it’s not themselves on the streets, they don’t care about poverty.
- If it’s not their child being bullied, they don’t care about bullying.
