Hi Catherine, thanks for stopping by. I can assure you that you're not alone in that regard. I spent much of my childhood helping people out and not only getting nothing in return, but also getting stepped on and taken advantage of.

Here's something that took me a while to learn that you might find helpful: Never regret being a good person to the wrong people.

If you're a good person and you offer unsolicited help, you're an amazing human being. If someone burns or bites you for doing so, or if they refuse to return the favor, it's not because you did anything wrong. It's natural to hurt when this happens, but don't let instances like these kill your light.

If we all stopped helping other people because we let those negative few snuff our flame out, then the world would have nobody who wants to help others left. We wouldn't want that now, would we?

I'm actually inspired to write an article off of your comment, so I have you to thank as well Catherine. I'm going to write it and it'll probably get published next week since I have backed up drafts I've pre-written. I'll make sure to tag you when it comes out.
