Hi Alan, I wouldn't necessarily feel out of place if I were you, simply because I didn't fit into either one of two boxes.

Perhaps you've grown to be really independent and aren't inclined to depend on others to accomplish something. Maybe that's why you don't see yourself as part of either culture. It could also be that you're scared to ask others for help, scared to rely on someone else.
