If You’re Sitting Across From Someone Right Now, Thank Them
Don’t neglect the person in front of you.
One thing I find to be rather bothersome is when I witness people sitting down with each other, but they’re not with each other.
If you know what I mean.
Their bodies are present at the table, but their minds are somewhere else. So are their eyes.
Their eyes are pointed at their phones, rather than at the eyes of the individuals sitting with, beside, and across from them.
It’s bad enough seeing it happen at other tables, but when it happens at the one I’m sitting at, where I’m eagerly awaiting conversation and the other party or parties are simply looking at their phones, I can’t help but feel slightly annoyed.
Now here’s the thing:
I understand that technology has changed massively over time and has warped our lives tremendously, but the importance of face-to-face conversation and connection must never be lost.
